Restaurant Meals Program
If you are homeless, disabled, or over 60 years of age, you can use your CalFresh card to buy prepared meals at certain restaurants.
- Some restaurants will have a sign saying “EBT-Cash Only.” This means that you can’t use your CalFresh benefits to buy food there, but if you get cash assistance like CalWORKs or GA, you can use the cash benefits that are on the same EBT card.
- Some items in the grocery store that are prepared food are marked with a sticker that says they can be bought with your CalFresh food benefits or “Food Stamps”.
- Some of the restaurants that are chain restaurants can accept CalFresh at certain locations. It does not mean they accept it at all their locations; you have to check at each one.
- You have to be homeless, disabled, or over 60 years old to use CalFresh this way. Your card should be programmed by the DHA to work at the eligible locations. Call the DHA to have your card adjusted if it does not work where it should.
