Our Mission
Our mission at SANE is:
- To provide services and education for people who inject drugs (PWID) which helps them enhance their health and wellness and improve their quality of life.
- To employ in all our efforts the principles of humanism, harm reduction, and respect for human rights and dignity.
What We Do
SANE’s philosophy is harm reduction, a public health and safety approach to drug use that relies on efficacy evidence and respects the rights and abilities of drug users to make self-defined positive change. This means:
- All our practices, policies, and programs are based on evidence
- People who inject drugs (PWID) are involved in all parts of designing programs, putting the designs into practice, and measuring if the programs are effective
- Treating everyone with dignity & respect; and
- Supporting any positive change, as defined by those making the change.
